Can prefinished floating floors be re-sanded and finished? Yes.
So long as they are the type that has a thick enough top layer or veneer.
The ones that have 3 to 6 mm are fine for re-sanding and finishing.
Quicksand & Polish have been re-sanding & polishing floors like these in Brisbane for over 20 years.
The First picture is a 6 mm thick top layer. This should last as long as a solid timber floor. For example a standard 80 x 19 mm thick Tongue and Groove floor has around about a 5-6 mm of sandable thickness to it.
The second photo is of a similar product however it only has a 3 mm veneer on top. Note whilst the total thickness above the grrove is around 6 mm
the sandable Colour/species is only about 3 mm. This one Can still be re-sanded and finsihed, however will not have as many sands in it as the 6 mm one.
Note the three different colours above the groove. Its only the very top colour that is sandable. So if you look at the side profile of your floating floor and the very top
coloured layer is only paper thin, then NO it can't be re-sanded and finsihed. It needs to look more like one of the above two photoes to be re-sanded and Polished.
