There are three main ways to lay Timber Floors over concrete slabs.
1. Install a Pine Ply Sub floor and Secret Nail the Real Solid Tongue & Groove Timber to it.
2. Direct Stick an overlay floor. (Least Recommended)
3. Float an Engineered Timber floor over an Underlayment.

Yes, however it is recommended that you lay the new floor at 90 Degrees to the existing one.
